Field Maintenance
At NLL, we go to great lengths to provide the very best player surface and experience for our kids.
In order to maintain our fields throughout the year, it is extremely important that we all take care of them. This includes before and after practices, and games and ensures that our facility remain top-notch. If you'd like to volunteer some time to help with the upkeep of our fields, please email [email protected].
Field Maintenance Guidelines
- Assign players/parents to groom the field after each game and practice. Two people per session, ensuring infields are dragged without dirt spilling onto the grass.
- Remove bases and insert base plugs before dragging. At the end of the day, place bases in the equipment shed with base plugs in place.
- Rake base paths in the same direction as the path to prevent dirt from entering the grass.
- Fill and pound down holes around the pitcher's mound or home plate. Use field tamps for this purpose.
- Water the mound, batter’s box, and infield dirt between games to control dust and maintain a suitable playing surface.
